Conference Co-Chair
Bill Selak

Bill Selak is a Board Member of the National Association for Media Literacy Education. He is the Director of Technology at Hillbrook School, an Apple Distinguished School in Los Gatos, California, where he facilitated the creation and implementation of strategic and tactical technology plans, oversees the day-to-day operation of IT systems, and works with faculty and staff to effectively integrate technology into lesson plans.

In addition to his work at Hillbrook, Bill is also an adjunct faculty member at Concordia University Irvine teaching in the Master of Arts in Education Educational Technology program. He is an Apple Distinguished Educator, ISTE Kay L. Bitter Vision Award recipient, ISTE 2013 Emerging Leader, and a Google Certified Innovator, and regularly presents at both local and international conferences.

Bill is currently obsessed with sharing his professional learning on his own podcast, Bill Selak Talks, and his school’s podcast, the Hillbrook Center for Teaching Excellence Podcast. You can find Bill on both the Twitters (as his mom calls it) and Instagram Stories (@billselak).

Matthew Woods

Matthew Woods has served over 12+ years assisting students, educators, and schools in a variety of roles.  His professional experience includes being a high school social studies teacher, middle and high school assistant principal, middle school principal, director of student support services, adjunct professor, and field instructor at the collegiate level for student-teachers.  Additionally, Matthew hosts an education podcast, Leading Out The Woods, and is an accomplished keynote speaker and educational consultant.   

Matthew’s leadership and innovative approaches have led him to be recognized by numerous organizations including ASCD (Emerging Leaders Class 2021) and recipient of LG’s Happiness League Award.  Matthew has earned a Bachelor of Science in History and Social Studies from Ferrum College, Masters of Education in Educational Leadership and Administration from Virginia Tech, a graduate certificate in Education Law and Policy, and an Educational Specialist in Middle Grades Education from the University of Georgia. Matthew is in the process of completing his doctoral studies in Educational Leadership and Administration from Radford University (with an expected graduation date of December 2022).


Awards Chair
Daniel Rhone

Daniel Rhone has traveled a path through music, architecture, film, animation, game/graphic/motion design, illustration, photography, and writing. He is fascinated by the stories people live and tell, and explores visual means to express them with bold honesty.

As the Founder and Creative Director of The LUX-ID Design Group, Dan partners with individuals and organizations to more deeply link their passions and their communities through creative approaches to media, education, and social connectivity. For twenty years, he has produced a diverse body of work in multiple mediums for numerous clients – embracing various art forms and processes.

Dan is currently the motion/graphic designer for Endemol Shine North America. He is also the Board President of JazzAntiqua Dance & Music Ensemble.
